VI and Function Reference

The VIs and functions provided by the Quanser Rapid Control Prototyping (RCP) Toolkit are located on the Functions palette under Quanser Rapid Control Prototyping.

The VIs and functions are segregated into the following categories:

The Hardware functions provide access to hardware and data acquisition cards in particular. National Instruments cards, Quanser cards and other third-party cards are supported through a unified framework.

The Communications functions provide a flexible and unified framework for communications. The VIs are protocol-independent so that only one set of functions need be utilized for a variety of different protocols. The VIs are also carefully designed not to introduce any additional data on top of the underlying communication protocol so that they may be used to communicate with third-party applications and devices.

The Devices functions are used for accessing devices such as the haptic devices from 3DSystems (SensAble).

The Continuous functions provide convenient signal processing operations for use in control systems, carried out in the continuous time domain.

The Discrete functions provide convenient signal processing operations for use in control systems, carried out in the discrete time domain.

The Sources functions provide convenient signal sources for use in control systems, both in signal manipulation and performance monitoring. For example, the CL Continuous Sigmoid function allows sigmoid trajectories to be generated and the CL Sample Time function measures the sample time of a control loop with high precision.

The Utilities functions are useful for miscellaneous operations, such as unwrapping encoder or potentiometer signals that wrap.
